Yesterday I attended church in the rural area, Timbutini, which is always an adventure to say the least. It lasted over two hours. After church, some of my friends and I walked with my good friend Thulie to her house to give her and her children the Christmas presents I brought back for them from America. It was one of the most fun things I have ever been a part of. She has 4 children: 3 boys whose ages are 2, 12, and 14; and one little girl who is 9 years old. They are so precious and totally went crazy over their gifts. The little girl especially; she was singing and dancing the whole time. They all, including Thulie, immediately put on their new clothes and danced around in them. The little girl went crazy over a bag of colored socks I had gotten her, but then she saw her new Hanes underwear and in a flash had stripped off what she was wearing and put a pair of the new undies on. They were so proud of it all. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible by donating money for me to buy these gifts. Each member of that family now has a new wardrobe, and the children have some toys and vitamins as well. Thulie kept telling me what a blessing it was for her as a mom because she can barely provide food for her children much less new clothes. She is one of the women who makes the purses and with that money she is able to send her children to school, but little is left over.
Many of you were a part of this, so thank you again. I do realize how extremely blessed I am to be the one linking so many of you to these precious African people. If any of you are interested in sending more money for something specific. I really want to buy Thulie and each of her children a nice pair of shoes. Each pair will probably cost around $15 American dollars, so times 5 that would be a total around $75. Just send the money to my home in America or give it to my mom, and she will deposit it into my checking account so that I can directly withdraw it from an ATM here in their currency.
Thank you all and God bless!
